Day 172  Jan 23 2015  Bangkok  Thailand

The train arrived in Bangkok at 6:30 am where we took a Taxi to our hotel.  It turned out that I was the first time we got scammed by a taxi driver by paying 3 to 4 times more than we should have for the ride.  When we got to the hotel it was almost 8 am and the room was not available.  We had nothing planned so we sat on the sofa in the lobby of the hotel and surfed the net looking for something to do while Isabel slept.   We were just about to leave when the hotel staff informed us that our room was ready so we took our luggage to the room and got cleaned up. We walked to the MRT (subway) and took it to the Central World Mall where we ate lunch followed by desert at the Stone Cold Creamery.  After lunch we took the mrt to a station close to the river.  We then took a tuk tuk to what was supposed to be the tourist boat, he took us to a private boat where they wanted 3000 bht to take us for a tour.  We walked over to the next pier where the tourist boat was located. Unfortunately it was also beside the ferry that only takes you across the river.   We ended up on the incorrect boat and had a nice trip across the river, immediately bought return passage and had another nice trip across the river to where we started.  Once we were back at the original pier we walked 20 meters to the correct desk and bought an all day pass for the tourist boat for 150 bht each with Isabel’s ticket being free.  We took the boat towards the grand palace and the temples only to find that they were closed as it was late in the afternoon.  We ended up taking the tourist boat to Asiatique where we went on the big ferris wheel and the kids on the sky yoyo’s.
