Day 107
Nov 18 2014 Kenora Ontario, Cusco Peru
Me in Kenora
I arrived in Winnipeg at 3:20 pm and Tony was there to pick me up with a bag of winter clothes in hand. The first stop was at the Apple Store to get David’s Ipad fixed, $300 dollars latter we left. The roads were a little slippery leaving Winnipeg and in Kenora the road in between was pretty good. We stopped at the hospital to see my dad but he was sleeping

Evy and kids in Cusco Peru
David was feeling a little under the weather due to the altitude in Cusco so
we took it easy during the morning staying in the apartment. We left the apt. Around 11:30, dropped our
dirty clothes at the laundromat and took a cab to the Plaza de Armas. It is a nicely restored colonial town, with
stone streets and carved wooden balconies. We found a Kentucky fried chicken
beside the 16th century cathedral and the kids were suddenly hungry . . . David
was feeling better after the fried chicken and we walked around the plaza
looking for something to do. It is a
highly touristic town so every store offers crafts and tours. We decided to
visit Cochahuasi, an animal sanctuary 1/2 hr outside Town. It is a privately
run center that rescues abused or sick animals. They had a couple of llamas,
alpacas and two other similar species; several condors that we saw flying; some
Falcons and a couple of Eagles, a pair of Turtles; 2 females and a male puma
and the kids favourite a month old baby puma. The apartment's host mentioned
that we should not use the elevator at nights because the power was not enough
to run it ... David had first hand confirmation of this issue, fortunately the
power was enough to open the elevator door on the second floor, once I turned
off all the stair lights.
