Day 114
Nov 25 2014 Ste. Agathe MB, Puno Peru
This is my last day in Kenora , we visited my dad in the hospital and he was
awake but seemed a bit confused. He is
very weak. Tony and I left Kenora shortly after 4 pm and
got to Tony house in Ste. Agathe around 7 pm.

We took the bus at 11 pm and were supposed to be in Puno by
7:30 am, it did not happen. One hour after leaving Cusco the bus broke down in
the middle of the night in the middle of the highway. The kids and I were
sleeping by this time but I woke up when the door opened and I could hear loud
complains from the upstairs passengers that were leaving the bus. I decided to
stay put and wait for the driver to explain the issue hoping it was not a night
robbery. The news was it was not a forced donation situation but an engine
problem. We were riding in the semi-sleeper side of the bus which included the
convenience of an internal door that blocked us off from the people riding
cattle class. This door became a huge asset after the air conditioning stopped
working as we were able to open some windows, the bathroom stop working and it
kept the bouquet away. It took several
hours to fix the problem and it was close to dawn when the bus continued
towards Puno. We had arranged to be pick-up at the Puno bus station from the
same person we booked the apartment in Puno. Needless to say we did not make it
due to our several hour delay. We took a regular taxi to the apartment and the
lady in charge came out to meet us worrying that something more serious had
happened to us. She knew it was only me and the kids and had e-mailed Sam
telling him we did not arrived when expected.
